Interview
Tell us a little bit about your personality. I grew up a tomboy, raised by my dad. While most girls played with Barbie dolls, I played with hot wheels & Atari. I am a person of principal, earning everything I get through hard work. I would consider myself patriotic, I love my country & proudly support a member of the armed forces, my boyfriend. I also have a really warped sense of humor, which is probably why my bf & I get along so well.
Where were you born and where did you grow up? I was born in a South Jersey town called Willingboro. I grew up right down the street in Burlington NJ. I’ve lived there my entire life. I currently share my time between NJ & MD.
How did you get into modeling? In 2005, I was invited out of the blue by a local tuner shop in South Jersey to do a photo shoot for them as a spokes model. I never really thought about modeling before since I grew up as a sports loving tomboy but I’ll try almost anything once so I decided to give it a go. I had SUCH a good time that I started networking with other small shop owners & modeling organizations. I got to know the guys at Blow By Racing in Boca Raton, FL & discovered the owner, Chris, was also a Jersey native. He and the guys made me a profile on their site as a “Blow By Girl,” and my career just took off after that.
What do you like most about being a model? I absolutely LOVE meeting new people, especially gear heads like me. Modeling has also helped me to become very comfortable with who I am.
How do you spend your time when you're not modeling? Not modeling? I am starting to forget what that’s like, I’ve been so busy lately. When I DO get a break I like to spend my time up in Philly & NJ with family & friends (and my bf). You can also find me at the 1320, test & tuning my Trans Am WS6 that I am building with the help of my guy.
What is your best physical feature? I hear I have a nice butt.
What is the first thing that attracts you to a guy? He’s got to have a sense of humor & I’m not just talking about corny jokes. I’ve been surrounded by guys my entire life, so if he can’t handle a little ball breaking, he’s not for me.
Describe your idea of a perfect date. I like to sit down to a nice candle-lit dinner, take a long walk on the beach at sunset where we can hold hands & talk about our feelings...hahahaha j/k. Dinner and a few drinks--maybe some Sonic & a cruise. I’m pretty low maintenance.
If you could customize any car, what would it be? How would you customize it? I am more of a performance oriented girl rather than appearance so I’d probably go with an LS3 corvette. Throw a blower kit on there from A&A Corvettes, maybe a cam, beef up the rear. Appearance mods would be limited to wheels, some custom engine bay dress up goodies, & maybe true fire or ghost flames to accent the paint. I think corvettes really speak for themselves without a ton of flash.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I played basketball in college, had a full athletic scholarship.
What websites do you spend most of your time on? AlteredRacin.com, updating stuff for my car club, KristaElyse.com updating my portfolio & car build blog. Facebook is another biggie (I practically live on there lately). I frequent car forums too, it helps me learn: EasternFbody.com (guys have been super helpful with helping me learn my motor), LS1.com, MDStreetScene.com, FirebirdNation.com, TeamSolo.net, CobaltSS.net, I write an article section regularly on Outlawdragbike.com as their site model, & the list goes on LOL.
What is your biggest pet peeve? Expecting everything to just be given to you without putting out any effort. There is too large of an heir of expectancy nowadays.
Aside from being our featured model, what can we expect from Krista Elyse in 2010? I have some promo projects in the works. I am also speaking with a few companies about attending SEMA & PRI this year as a model (hopefully things will work out). I will be doing a lot of east coast events -- OC Car Show in Maryland, Altered Racin’s Annual Breast Cancer Benefit/Show, Street Wars in NJ, maybe Hyperfest in WV to name a few. My ultimate goal for 2010 is to get published as a model in a car magazine...so I am keeping my fingers crossed. As far as my WS6 goes -- I’ll be happy with mid 11’s this season.
Any last words to your supporters and future fans? Thanks to NutekSpeed.com for featuring me on the site, this has been a goal of mine for a long time. Also, a really special thank you to Mark @ Dark Photography Designs for helping me out with some amazing pics. Thanks to DPD, Kaptured By Kat Photography, CJ Swift Photography, & Photos By Philly for taking the time to help me develop my portfolio. To everyone who has supported me, past & present, thanks for all of the opportunities you’ve given me, I am truly grateful. Finally, thanks to my sister, Kat, & my bf, Philly, for always being there for me. I couldn’t do any of this without you. BTW- My fans & supporters are awesome sauce!
